I didn't realise FIFA invented Israel too.

No shame that lot.

Having the WC final in the middle east is the west's way of atoning for shoving Israel up their arse in 1948.

Israel, though is on commission and will receive a hefty percentage of all the financial transactions that occur during this world cup.

"Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men."

Lord Acton wrote this about FIFA back in 1887.

It's amazing how far the corruption has filtered down. Even into the footballing backwater of Oceania.

Tai Nicholas, a long-time Oceania General Secretary and Oceania rep in various FIFA committees has been fined and banned from football for "misappropriating FIFA funds, bribery and corruption, as well as having received gifts or benefits, in violation of the FIFA code of ethics".

It's my understanding that the FIFA Code of Ethics says

1. Don't get caught.

Always seemed daft to me having the world cup in these shit countries who have to spend billions building stadiums that will then never be used again.

England could host the world cup tomorrow without too much fuss

Agree; if proven bent, as seems likely, withdraw.

Offer England as an alternative host? Most European countries would accept that rather than flog their players in the heat during the european season.

Why aren’t we boycotting this?

The FIFA executives will never do anything about corruption, a bit like turkeys voting for Xmas. Also England will turn up because they are scared of upsetting FIFA, and the prize money keeps everyone in line.

It makes you wonder if there will ever be a breaking point or backlash for the patent corruption in FIFA. It's so completely in the open you'd think if anyone had the authority to act on it, they would have to here, but we all know the show will go on... in Qatar

Looked very dodgy at the time...
Blatter & Co Corrupt...
Promised AC stadiums that were never going to be built...SuperCon...

Ended up disrupting Football seasons to play WC in winter...

Typical FIFA FuckUp...

I know, Virginia. I maybe didn't word that right. But I honestly think if there's a statement ENGLAND needs to make, we just withdraw. Who's going to be interested after this shitstorm? It's tainted. I'd rather watch non-League have-a-go merchants.

All sorts of crap going on in Qatar with the stadium workers and even deaths. I love football, but this shit can fuck right off.

Disgrace. Money has ruined the game. It's such a shame.

IRONS!

For a judge to approve an arrest warrant there has to be clear proof a conviction can be obtained.

There's rocket science, and then there's working out why they were awarded a world cup.

The two aren't similar in any way.

Re: Former UEFA president nicked over giving Qatar the world cup
Surprise surprise. At the time everybody who was half decent said... "that shit really stinks" "No it doesn't replied those in the know at FIFA"

After a bit of digging we're all discovering that in actual fact SHIT DOES STINK!

Re: Former UEFA president nicked over giving Qatar the world cup
If proven (and it must be close given he's actually been arrested), England should just decline/refuse to play. We'd only get the Quarter-finals as usual anyway.

But telling FIFA to do one, would be a massive message. From the nation who started the game.

What a bunch of ctuns football "hierarchy"" has become.

It will still be at Qatar, in stadiums build by slave workers. Will anyone watch this corrupt charade? Will any of you watch and legitimate this world cup?

Unlikely, I reckon SoS.

Qatar will just bribe whoever makes that decision now and everything carries on as normal.

S of S,

Doubt it, they'll need to be evidence of money passing hands in a bag with a dollar sign on it!
